Chat Rooms: Audio Video Communication
June 21, 2008 – 12:07 pmAudio and video communication has become much easier to achieve in recent years thanks to the development of more powerful modems, and more affordable service options. The first chat rooms and communication options relied on text because it was much easier to transmit using the connections available at the time. Today, audio and video have become incorporated into many of the instant messaging services we use.
Computer audio and video communication is vital to many businesses because it provides a link while employees are away. Most businesses use web conferencing in one form or another and sometimes rely on it as an alternative to more expensive travel. Companies can pitch their brands and ideas to potential customers and clients without having to leave the office.
Audio and video communication is also great for companies that are not located in one central location. Web conferencing has made is possible to communicate with your team even if they live thousands of miles away. You can also share files in real time, as well as stream images of your progress.
Audio and Video Requirements
Before you can join an audio/video internet community you are going to need a microphone, speakers, and a web cam. The microphone should be tested prior to use to find the best position for the best sound quality. The same goes for the web cam which needs to be set up properly to insure you are in frame and in focus. Good lighting is also important for the web cam because it might not pick up enough ambient light if your surroundings are dim.
