Chat Rooms: Audio Messaging

June 22, 2008 – 12:07 pm

Audio and video capabilities are much easier to use today than in years past thanks to increased modem speeds and more powerful processors. Dial-up did not have the capacity to carry images or sound simply because it could not transmit data at a high enough rate. Today, however, chat rooms and web communities are fully featured multimedia services.

Using Audio Messaging Services
People that own a web cam can easily enjoy audio/video chat rooms, although people without one do not need to miss out on a great chat experience. You can use audio messaging as an alternative, and you can do so with the microphone and speakers that came with your computer. You can also join audio/video communities without needing a web cam. You will still be able to see everyone else, but they would only be able to hear you.

Audio messaging can be achieved either on a one on one basis, or as part of a group. Speaking one on one is a lot like having a conversation with someone in an instant messenger window, only you listen instead of read! Group sessions are set up ahead of time by a host who invites others to join or permits people to walk in without restriction.

Audio communities are groups that share a common interest and meet to discuss from time to time. If you dont know about your community choices you can find a list either with an internet search or by browsing your services available options. You can easily create a group if one does not already exist, and you will have formed your own online audio community.
